Dubrovnik from the hill, the bridge and the river
A good first outing if you have just arrived: in two hours you see how Dubrovnik fits together, from above and from the side most visitors never get to.
We drive up to Srđ first, then down to the big bridge over the harbour and finish where the Ombla river comes out of the rock.

Franjo Tuđman Bridge
Dubrovnik
The plan
Srđ
From the top the Old Town, its walls and the island of Lokrum lie right below you. The old fort on the summit holds a small museum about the 1991 siege of the city.
Bosanka
The road to the summit climbs through this small village on the plateau behind the city.
Franjo Tuđman Bridge
A stop by the bridge for the view over Gruž harbour and out to the islands.
Ombla
The river appears from under the hill and reaches the sea after only a few kilometres. The water is cold and clear even in August.
Good to know
From Cavtat add about half an hour each way. Srđ can be windy outside the summer, so bring a layer. Late afternoon gives the softest light over the Old Town.
